GreenYellow will provide 100% green electricity for the charging stations.

Through this agreement, Meridiam and Casino Group contribute to:

  • The strong acceleration of the development of recharging infrastructures for electric vehicles in France and in the United States
  • Large scale roll-out of zero emission mobility in France

In September 2019, Toulouse will host the first site of this type in France and by the end of 2019, 12 Casino sites will offer this new service.

The charging stations will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, accessible to everyone and will allow electric vehicles, slow charging (6 to 8 hours), fast charging (30 to 45 minutes) and even ultra fast charging (5 to 10 minutes) on the same site. These new-generation ultra-fast charging stations will allow an electric vehicle to travel 300 kilometres with a single charge of 5 to 10 minutes.

Meridiam, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Allego, the pan-European leader in electric mobility, will install and maintain these sites. The Group already operates 12,000 charging terminals in the Benelux and Germany with exceptional availability. The electricity supplied will be 100% green and provided by GreenYellow, a Casino subsidiary.

This initiative is part of a global European project developed by Allego and Meridiam and supported by the European Union, the Metropolitan Greater Areas Electrified (Mega-E) project. By 2021, the ambition is to deploy more than 300 such ultra-fast charging sites throughout Europe.

“This partnership with Groupe Casino is a concrete illustration of our commitment to the energy transition. By massively developing the essential charging infrastructures for electric vehicles, we are contributing to the deployment of clean mobility in France. This project is also part of Meridiam’s more global ambition on a European scale to install by 2021, more than 300 ultra-fast charging sites across the continent.” Thierry Déau, CEO of Meridiam
