Our Impact
Enhanced user experience for electric vehicles with Exoès through thermal management optimization
Sector: Clean Mobility
Exoès provides advanced engineering services to the car manufacturing and offroad industry to support the development of next generation EV platforms and electric powered systems. Since 2019, the company is also developing its own high-performance battery packs.
Exoès has built over the past 15 years highly recognized technical skills across thermal, mechanical, fluid, electronic and electrical engineering. In particular, Exoès is one of the worldwide specialists of immersion cooling, which allows 3-4x faster charging, up to 25% longer autonomy, less risk of fire propagation, up to 30% longer lifespan, and to 25% lower carbon footprint than traditional air-cooled systems. Meridiam’s Green Impact Growth Fund and Bpifrance’s Fonds Avenir Automobile co-led a €35m financing round to support Exoès’ commercialization acceleration, internationalization and industrialization. We invested alongside Exoès’ co-founders, Arnaud Desrentes and Rémi Daccord.
Why We Invested in Exoès
To support the growth of a reference European player of thermal management for electric vehicles, promoting the electrification of mobility thanks to improved battery performance, safety and cost-competitiveness.
- Strengthen Exoès’ leadership position on advanced engineering services for electric vehicles thermal management, especially on immersion cooling
- Expand across strategic geographies with large markets for premium electric vehicles
- Ensure the company remains on the edge of innovating and continues to diversify its offering
- Successfully launch Exoès’ industrial operations for the manufacturing of high-performance battery packs
Exoès’ impact
Exoès’ major contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are mostly on:
- SDG 13 – Climate action by addressing some of the key pain points preventing the electrification of mobility (EV charging time, battery autonomy, battery size and weight and therefore EV production cost)
- SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production by extending the lifespan and reducing the size of batteries for the same power, thereby preserving critical raw materials used for new batteries manufacturing
- SDG 3 – Good health and well-being by limiting heat propagation within EV batteries, therefore preventing accidents from battery fires
- SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities by contributing to improve the air quality within urban areas
Overall Exoès’ innovative cooling technologies could help reduce the CO2 emissions of EV batteries by up to 25% compared to conventional systems.
