Ibiza Hospital, Spain
Background:
The hospital is located in Ibiza, in the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The c. 79,000m2 public hospital has a 296-bed capacity serving a population of 160,000 people across Ibiza and Formentera. The project includes the operation of non-clinical services for Hospital Can Misses along with two other healthcare centers.
Ibiza Hospital has a full range of emergency care facilities including surgery, paediatrics, ICU and neonatal, radiotherapy and obstetrics. The hospital hosts 58 consultation rooms, 26 examination rooms, 22 speciality premises and five delivery and recovery premises.
Ibiza Hospital has subcontracted the operation and maintenance to the Ibiza Operating Company and this entity has subcontracted most of the services (except for laundry, restoration and the cafeteria) to third-party subcontractors. These relationships are typically back-to-back where the subcontractor bears the full risk in case of penalties from the Grantor.

ESG/SDG Key Facts
The sustainability roadmap for 2024 is being developed for November 2024 with new proposals for improvement. A detailed ESG assessment was prepared by the Project Company in Q3 2024.
SDG 5 (Gender Equality)
After the implementation of the Equality Plan last year, further progress is being made in the scheduled actions, such as the training of employees on the prevention of sexual and gender-based harassment.
SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy)
The hospital has solar panels to generate part of the electricity requirements and has a reverse osmosis plant that uses seawater for sanitary purposes. Additional EV charging infrastructure is awaiting approval by the Grantor. The Project Company finalised in Q1 2023 an energy efficiency study for all hospital buildings and services and has started to implement the recommended initiatives. These measures include amongst others: improvements in energy consumption, regular reports on consumption and a handbook on best practices, change of lighting to LEDs and a switch to a zero-emissions electricity provider.
SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities)
The Project Company is responsible for maintaining Casa Payesa, a house from the 18th century, for the recreational use of the community. For 2024, the hospital aims to achieve an 11% reduction in water consumption.
