Our impact

Montreal University Hospital Research Center (CRCHUM), Canada

The Project consists of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the new Montreal healthcare research center, the Centre de Recherche (CR).
Completed in 2013, CR-CHUM is one of the world’s leading centres of research in biomedical sciences. The centre combines basic, clinical, and population health research for a high-quality academic research continuum to improve the health of adults. More than 1,700 people work in this 70,000 m2 facility, including around 450 researchers and over 400 graduate students and postgraduate fellows. CRCHUM can carry out the entire spectrum of basic, clinical and population health research. Its main lines of research are in cancer, immunotherapy, cardiometabolic medicine and health imaging and engineering.
Since operations started, Meridiam and its partner have been carefully managing the Project Company, leading to overall cost savings. In 2012, Meridiam transferred 49% of its participation in MICAF to a Co Investor. MINA II re-acquired the stake in September 2023.

ESG/SDG Key Facts

Research teams at CRCHUM have received recognition for their rapid response to the COVID-19 virus, participating in several studies such as research on how long virus antibodies stay in body, or predicting which patients are most at risk of dying from the virus.
Besides COVID-19 research, many important projects have been carried out by the research teams including Rett Syndrome and cancer research.
In 2022, the Project Company continued its historical support of the CHUM Foundation with monetary contributions (CAD50k p.a.) and participation in fundraising events. All donations to the CHUM Foundation are directed towards the acquisition of cutting-edge technology, research, education, and the promotion of health, such that donors are directly contributing to the wellbeing of the CHUM’s patients.
