Our Impact

Gaziantep Hospital, Turkey

Background

The Project consists of the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of an integrated health campus with 1,875 beds in Gaziantep (south-eastern Turkey).
The campus is comprised of general practice, oncology, cardiovascular diseases, women and children, physical therapy, and psychiatric hospitals. With a population of more than 2 million people (and 452k refugees following the 2023 earthquakes),
Gaziantep is one of Turkey’s oldest cities and among its most populous. Rapid population growth is putting a serious strain on healthcare services.
The project initially reached financial close in May 2017 with an international lenders group (EIB, EBRD, K-SURE, KEXIM); however, since 2018, the Project faced multiple issues, resulting in cost overruns and delays.
Given our track record in successfully delivering 4 healthcare PPP projects in Turkey on-time and on-budget, Meridiam and Ronesans (our partner since 2014), were approached by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Treasury and DFI Lenders with the view to restructure and complete the project.
