Our impact
The Project was tendered under IFC’s Scaling Solar Program in Senegal and was awarded to Meridiam and Engie as a consortium in April 2018.
The Project consists in the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of a solar PV plant (44 MWp) located in the Kahone region in Senegal, as well as the construction of its transmission line which will be handed over to Senelec upon completion.
The Project benefits from a 25-year take-or-pay PPA with Senelec and a State Guarantee from the State of Senegal.
With this 44 MWp solar PV plant, Meridiam is reaffirming its ambition to become a key player in the clean energy sector in Senegal and in Africa. Meridiam will produce electricity at a low price and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while ensuring local populations can grasp the related economic benefits of the project.
