Carrefour EV Charging, France

Background

The Project involves the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance through a 15-year concession of 1,900 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points on c.200 hypermarkets, owned by leading retailer Carrefour, in France. The Project will contribute to achieving the French Government’s target to promote electromobility and is in line with Meridiam’s commitment to develop clean mobility solutions.
Carrefour will be the first retailer in France to offer its customers a complete electro-mobility solution, powered by green energy. Hence, the Project will be providing customers with electric mobility hubs across the country, meeting the market’s current and future needs for a long-term charging solution.

The project provides a valuable opportunity for Meridiam to deploy a large array of low carbon mobility assets under attractive economic terms and is in line with Meridiam’s mission and with Meridiam’s long term commitment to France’s regions and local communities.
With the support of Meridiam, Carrefour is the first retailer in France to offer its customers a complete electro-mobility solution with terminals ranging from 22 kW to 300 kW:
• a 22 kW “comfort” charging service that is free for the first hour for customers with loyalty cards or Carrefour PASS cards.
In one hour, customers with city vehicles can charge their battery to 50% capacity for free.
• a 75 kW to 300 kW fast to ultrafast charging service. These terminals will deliver a complete recharge in between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the vehicle.
• a free service for charging new soft mobility solutions, such as e-bikes and e-scooters
