Our impact

Ausol II Highway (Estepona-Guadiaro), Spain

Background

Ausol manages two real-toll road concessions of 105 km located between the city of Málaga and Guadiaro (Cádiz) in Costa del Sol area (Andalusia), one of the most dynamic economic regions of Spain:
• Ausol I (Málaga-Estepona) is a 82.7km concession contract which matures in 2046.
• Ausol II (Estepona-Guadiaro) is a 22.5km concession contract which matures in 2054.
Autopista del Sol represents the best option of transportation throughout the Costa del Sol from Málaga to Marbella and Guadiaro in the south. It offers a fast (25-40% time saving) and reliable route with great advantage over other alternatives.

It provides tangible and clear positive impact including ensuring cities such as Fuengirola and Marbella are bypassed (at no cost for drivers), reducing congestion and transit flows while improving air quality and safety.
Meridiam and Cintra, which both have a unique experience in toll roads, are currently managing together another road in Spain (A66) and five roads worldwide (one in the United Kingdom and four in USA).
In December 2022 Meridiam acquired the remaining 15% that was owned by Cintra.
