Biogas Assets Platform
Meridiam has direct participations in 3 biogas assets located in Germany
Background
As part of its strategic partnership with Evergaz SA, Meridiam has direct participations in 16 biogas assets:
In France, Meridiam acquired in 2018, 70% of Evergaz French biogas assets platform Bio Méthanisation Partenariat (“BMP”). BMP holds brownfield assets and greenfield methanization injection units producing biogas for the grid. These 10 assets are either under operation or construction (total production capacity is 8.9 MW and 800 Nm3/h). A robust pipeline is being continuously developed and Meridiam has secured a right of first refusal on future projects developed or sourced by Evergaz in France.
In Germany Meridiam holds participations in 3 biogas assets. In February 2017, Meridiam and Evergaz acquired Dessau and Pessin biogas plants. The third asset, located in Mehrum, close to Hanover (Lower Saxony), was acquired in June 2018. The three plants receive feedstocks (including waste, 60kt/year for each plant) supplied by BayWa. They are operated by BayWa, under Evergaz SA supervision, and produce biomethane (capacity 2100 Nm3/h) injected into the grid and purchased by BayWa under long term purchase agreements (with Dessau and Mehrum plants also selling electricity through their cogeneration units).
With Evergaz Mobility, Meridiam and Evergaz are developing a network of bio-NGV refueling stations that will serve captive fleets of municipalities (buses, waste trucks) or private entities (e.g. retail freight fleet). The platform benefits from subsidies from the French State (ADEME) and the EU through the Connected Europe Facility.
