The R1 highway project is the first Slovakian PPP project. The Project consists of the design, building, financing, operation and maintenance of three main sections of the 2x2 lane R1 expressway between Nitra and Tekovske Nemce as well as the Banska Bystrica Northern Bypass. The total length of this highway is approximately 51.6 km . The sections of the project road will be brought into use on the basis of 4 phases with completion of the last section being scheduled in July 2012. The works comprise 81 bridges over the four sections with a total length of approximately 8.4 km.
The Project was initiated by the Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications of the Republic of Slovakia in 2007 and achieved financial close in August 2009.
Revenue profile The Project is implemented under an availability fee based concession scheme pursuant to a concession contract between Granvia a.s., (the project special purpose company) and the Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications of the Republic of Slovakia. |
