USA : IH-635 (LBJ) Managed Lanes Project
Total project cost :
$ 2.6 billion
Concession life :
52 years starting June 2010

The project consists of reconstructing the motorway alignment to provide general purpose lanes and 13 miles of new Managed Lanes as well as the construction of new frontage roads on the IH-635 road that currently serves as the main circumferential roadway in the Dallas region in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area (the “Metroplex”), the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States.

This innovative concept of Managed Lanes will serve to absorb current congestion and future traffic growth in areas adopting a free flow road electronic tolling system (no toll plazas or barriers) with a dynamic toll regime, which adjusts toll rates based on traffic volumes in order to maintain a level of service greater than 50 mph for the term of the Project and enhances motorist safety with wider lanes and additional shoulders.

Revenue profile

Revenue will be realized by user paid fees on the 13-mile stretch of Managed Lanes.
