Social commitments and sustainable development
Placing ESG as top priority from its inception, Meridiam adopted an Ethics Charter focusing on environmental, social and governance issues, and has been a signatory of the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) since 2010.
ESG is at the core of Meridiam's business, not only by virtue of the intrinsic nature of the projects in which it invests but also as a result of the long-term nature of its investments. Rigorous risk assessment is a fundamental part of our project appraisal process; we will only proceed on a particular project if the company’s criteria are met in relation to ESG issues.
This corporate responsibility is also central to our engagement with policy makers and public institutions, whether federal, state, EU, member country or local level, in order to promote and foster long-term investment in these economies.
The importance of ESG issues is complemented by our overall commitment to corporate responsibility and to working at all levels continuously to improve our operational methodology, as demonstrated by the ISO 9001 certification which was renewed in January 2012.
