MERIDIAM REACHES FINANCIAL CLOSE FOR ITS FIRST PROJECT IN TURKEY
Meridiam has reached a historic financial close for the Adana Integrated Healthcare Campus Project, its first project in Turkey. Together with its partners, it will design, build, finance, operate and transfer the Hospital, with a 36-month construction period followed by a 25-year operating period.

MERIDIAM WILL DEVELOP NEW INDIANAPOLIS JUSTICE COMPLEX

The project will relocate and consolidate county jails, criminal courts, offices for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and other related offices and agencies from disparate locations around Indianapolis.

PORT OF MIAMI TUNNEL OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Expected to divert 16,000 vehicles daily from downtown Miami, the tunnel consists of two tubes containing each a two-lane road, and provides a direct link to Interstate 95 and State Road 836 connecting to Miami International Airport.

MERIDIAM REFINANCES THE R1 EXPRESSWAY IN SLOVAKIA

The original bank loan will be replaced with the issuing of an €1,243 billion unwrapped project bond with a 26-year maturity.  

 
OCTOBER

MERIDIAM SIGNS L2 MARSEILLE BYPASS CONTRACT
With this Bypass project, Meridiam signs the first French project entirely financed through long-term bond issuance.

FIRST PROJECT BOND WITHOUT CREDIT ENHANCEMENT IN EUROPE
In Europe, Meridiam capitalized on the know-how gained by arranging one of North America’s first infrastructure private bond issues to finance a student housing project in the UK (University of Hertfordshire).

LAUNCH OF BARACK OBAMA’S “REBUILD AMERICA PARTNERSHIP” AT THE PORT OF MIAMI TUNNEL
The President of the United States chose the work site of this project developed by Meridiam to  launch the “Rebuild America Partnership” calling for private sector involvement as a means of creating jobs and upgrading America’s public infrastructure.

A NEW PROJECT IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
The roads maintenance contract for the Isle of Wight became the company’s third investment project in the UK.

MERIDIAM WAS AWARDED THE CONTRACT FOR THE NÎMES-MONTPELLIER HIGH-SPEED RAIL LINK (FRANCE).
The project represents a total investment of €1.84 billion and won the “Deal of the Year” award from Project Finance Magazine.

CONTRACT SIGNED FOR THE PRESIDIO PARKWAY (CALIFORNIA) PROJECT
Featuring an initial concession term of 30 years, the project is Meridiam’s second investment in California. Named “Deal of the Year” by Project Finance Magazine and “Global PPP Transaction of the Year” by Infrastructure Investor, the project also won a PFI Award.

GREATER INDEPENDENCE
Meridiam set up a new supervisory board composed of prominent international experts. Simultaneously, the ownership structure was modified and resulted in the majority of shares now being held by partners and employees.

CONTRACT SIGNED FOR THE NORTHEAST ANTHONY HENDAY DRIVE (CANADA) PROJECT
This project completes the final segment of the ring road around Edmonton, Province of Alberta’s capital city. It involves the design, construction and renovation, maintenance and operation of 27 km of a 6- and 8-lane divided highway.

NEW “FUND OF THE YEAR” AWARD FOR MERIDIAM
Following contracts for three new projects. South-Europe Atlantique High-Speed rail line (France), the E18 Motorway (Finland) and Nottingham Express Transit Phase II (United Kingdom) – Meridiam was given the “Fund of the Year” award by Infrastructure Journal for its global achievements.

LAUNCH OF PARALLEL FUND-RAISING IN EUROPE AND THE NORTH AMERICA
While engaging a fund-raising process on both sides of the Atlantic, Meridiam won contracts for three new projects in North America: the new Montreal University Hospital Research Center (Canada), the IH-635 LBJ Freeway in the Dallas area and the Long Beach Courthouse in California (United States).

SIX NEW PROJECTS FOR THE “FUND OF THE YEAR”
Selected by Infrastructure Investor as European Fund of the Year, Meridiam won four new projects in Europe: the A5 Motorway (Germany), the A2 Motorway phase II (Poland), the R1 Motorway (Slovakia), and the velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France); and two in the United States, namely the Port of Miami Tunnel and the North Tarrant Express highway (Texas).

FINAL CLOSING OF THE MERIDIAM I FUND
A new further fund-raising round brought Meridiam I fund size to €548 million. Meridiam secured a stake in the A2 Motorway Phase 1 project (Poland), doubling the amount of funds invested.

 

2007

 

FIRST SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT IN THE UK
Meridiam acquired a project covering local healthcare facilities in the United Kingdom with further Greenfield development of new health facilities. The Fulcrum LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) project is part of a large-scale program sponsored by the British Ministry of Health to promote quality medical facilities in underprivileged areas.

FIRST CLOSING OF THE MERIDIAM I FUND AND EARLY INVESTMENTS
Meridiam secured its first two projects while achieving the first closing of this fund, the Limerick Tunnel (Ireland), which began operating in July 2010 and the A5 highway (Austria), which opened to traffic in January 2010.

A PIONEER LONG-TERM INVESTOR IN PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE
Meridiam was established in France and the United States by Thierry Déau, formerly Chief Executive of Egis Projects (a subsidiary of France’s Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, specialized in developing, financing and managing infrastructure projects), with operational and financial support from AECOM Technology Corp. and the Crédit Agricole Group.
Set up to achieve convergence between the needs of public authorities and the interests of institutional investors, Meridiam finances public infrastructure while aiming to create a secure investment framework for long-term savings.
