A2 Segment II Motorway Project Achieves Financial Close
![]() Meridiam Infrastructure is pleased to announce that for the A2 Segment II Motorway Project from Nowy Tomysl to Świecko in Poland financial close has been achieved on June 29th, 2009. Meridiam Infrastructure will be a 40% shareholder in the project company Autostrada Wielkopolska II. The remaining equity sponsors in the project are Strabag and Kulczyk Holding. The debt financing includes €1.4 billion comprising of €400 million provided by 11 commercial banks and €1 billion from the European Investment Bank.
The A2 Segment II Motorway Project comprises the design, construction, financing and operation of Segment II of the A2 motorway in Poland. The interests of Meridiam Infrastructure already consist of Segment I of the A2 motorway which is already operational since 3 years and was acquired by Meridiam Infrastructure in late 2008 and early 2009.
The A2 motorway in Poland is the main road link between Warsaw and Berlin and one of the most important regional corridors, also part of the European Transport Networks (TENs) established by the EU Commission. It will constitute one of the main PPP motorways projects in Poland, developing its main road connections and preparing Poland to receive the European Football Championship in 2012. |
